Results

The promotion intervention of the Artichoke of Paestum PGI has reached the objectives that it had set.

In particular, the relationship between producers and consumers has strengthened thanks to the many activities in which the promotion project has been organized.

Thanks to visits in the fields and meetings with farmers and technicians, consumers have gained a precise knowledge of production techniques and the meaning of production regulations.

The constant relationship with the producers will be maintained even after the end of the promotion project through the constant updating of the website. This tool was particularly appreciated and used by consumers. Through it, in fact, all requests for information coming from private individuals were collected and met. In view of the great success, the site will be upgraded and kept constantly updated for years to come. In this way the communication channel between producers and consumers will remain active.

The goal of raising awareness and educating about the content of community schemes for branded products and environmental protection issues has also been widely achieved. In every meeting or initiative in which the project was organized, the role of the European Union in the Community regimes of brand products has always been emphasized. The meaning and importance of the I.G.P. o D.O.P. affixed on Campania agricultural productions and in particular on the artichokes of Paestum I.G.P.

In addition, the cultivation techniques that are respectful of the environment have been constantly emphasized, contributing to the strengthening of a conscience that is indeed set, already present in every component of the artichoke chain of Paestum PGI.

One of the most important objectives achieved with the promotion program has been to induce economic operators and consumers to purchase larger quantities of PGI Carciofo di Paestum.

The goal has been fully achieved. Thanks to the widespread promotion of the product, the main distribution chains have started marketing relationships of the PGI Paestum Artichoke.

In particular, in the 2018 marketing year, Terra Orti maintained commercial relationships with the main chains of large-scale retail trade that were concluded with mutual satisfaction. In fact, all the supplied product was quickly sold and even no further requests could be made.

It has been decided to continue and strengthen the collaboration also for the 2019 campaign, which will see more quantities committed for marketing through the GDO.

Ultimately, a much higher demand has been created that has led the PO to plan a marked increase in the agricultural areas invested in Carciofo di Paestum PGI for the 2019 campaign.

Reasons for satisfaction also came from restaurateurs who, in different ways, were involved in the project. In fact, these have recorded an increase in attendance linked to the combination of menus offered and Carciofo di Paestum. In consideration of the gratifying results achieved during the 2018 marketing year, it is the restaurant's intention to strengthen the link between catering and typical products of the territory of the Piana del Sele with specific reference to the Artichoke of Paestum PGI.
